”Let me start this one off by saying it doesn’t matter to me who wins or loses this match, not one damn bit, because at the end of the day I did that which I set out to do: compete against Ash Scion. I honestly didn’t expect to win that match, but it happened. And you can call it luck or one of a thousand other words like it I’m sure, but hey I won the title, I’m gonna fight one more time to defend it, I’m content with that.
“I’m sure someone like Lacklan couldn’t understand that though. Couldn’t understand that it’s the little victories that matter more than the rest. The ones that count the most are the ones you earn because it matters to you. Not to show it off and say ‘look at me, look at me.’ To carry a title with dignity and honor though, that’s the truest victory. Say what you want about anything else now, but you, Lacklan, have no intention of carrying the Hardcore belt with the respect it deserves. You want the title because you want to lord it over everyone. So if you do end up with the title, just know that as long as you keep this attitude or call yourself whatever the fuck you’re trying to be this week, no one will respect you or the title.
“Ash, at least if you win the title back, I know it’ll be going back to someone who wants to make the title mean something. That’s what I really want to do for it, but it honestly seems like you don’t want to give me the chance. You refuse to acknowledge me as a competitor, as a fighter. And that hurts way down deep because I have nothing but respect for you Ash. And at the end of the day that is all I wanted from you. But that’s asking too much of you isn’t it? That’s fine because, win or lose at Ides of March, I still did the improbable once. This time, I’ll take the improbable and make it the impossible.
“Cass, it’s nothing but love girl, but you know why I have to go all out even against you. I have to prove that my victory over Ash wasn’t just luck. It was because I deserve this spot. We can go the rounds like two assassins trying to land that final blow or two snipers trying to get that perfect headshot. All I want from you Cass is your best, whatever it takes. You give me that, I promise you’ll get mine in return.
“Tristen, I hope you’re paying close attention to all of this because I don’t want to skate by on this one. I don’t want the excuse of a victory to be because someone half-assed their performance. I want to be the champ because everyone gave it their all. I want the scores to show impressive metaphorical K:D ratios.
“So, who’s ready to play?”
