The scene faded into view, revealing Fucking Awesome Wrestling’s Showcase Champion, The Antagonist Gabriel Laroux. That aforementioned championship laid draped over his right shoulder. Gabriel stood in front of the Cow Palace, the very home of Darc Pro Wrestling’s Energy show.
Gabriel was dressed in a pair of solid black slacks with an unbuttoned black shirt over it, giving emphasis to a rather toned torso. A sly grin crept across the face of the eldest Laroux as that man spoke up finally.
”Why?”
That expression faded, giving way to an emotionless gaze towards whoever held the device recording this.
”Everyone wants to know why. Why did you turn your back on your brother?”
Those words drenched in that mocking tone as Gabriel spoke on.
”My brother..is a heartless machine, focused on one thing and one thing alone: himself. But occasionally, he falls into these..grooves where he tries to be something else..something that he feels is better. But is it really?”
“Lindsay Starr. She had everything you could want. An artistic mind. Connections in high society. Wealth. He was..happy..with her. He got bored. He let his emotions get the best of him and he threw away the good life for…”
“Kaci Deveraux. My brother nearly became someone entirely different because of her. The way she talked..how she presented herself..disgusted me. But he was head over heels with her. He asked her to marry him. But eventually..he got bored. Started going around behind her back..dipping his hand into whatever..venture that would allow him. One particular venture…”
“Blair Kivisto. The closest thing you'll ever get to a female counterpart of my brother. He married her, devoted his life to her on numerous occasions before one day just..not. Blair was everything he ever wanted. The woman just wouldn't say no to him..believe me..I've seen enough to know. But even that wasn't enough. Do you know who else won't be enough?”
“Rayven Hardy. The Darc Champion. Such innocence, it must be intoxicating to him. The urge to corrupt innocence is just too strong for someone like my brother. Introducing the young Hardy to numerous vices. And her, like a child blinded by emotions, willingly went along with it. How long until he gets bored with you as well, Rayven? We both know for a fact he will never love you like he loves the Phoenix.”
Gabriel allowed his head to fall back for just a few moments, almost basking in the revelation. Returning his head to an upright position, his expression turning near menacing.
”I'm sure you're curious by now, just what does this have to do with why I turned my back on Xavier? Why I walked away from him? It's simple, Lennox Daniels. This woman has went after our family with the sole intent of pushing Xavier back into that heartless state he so prospers in.”
“He's scared. Terrified of becoming that person once again. But unless he does, Lennox will continue to go after him, our family. And for that, Xavier must become what he truly is in order to right those wrongs. He knows what's required of him against her but instead..he fights..he struggles against the urge to be that person. He's scared of what his little birdy will think of him..of what his Phoenix will think of him..”
“Our family suffers while he fights himself with more intent than he's shown towards the biggest threat looming above his head.”
“But why won't you intervene? I have fought for those three since the days in which they were born. I have stolen for them. I have killed for them. It's now time for Xavier to step up. It's time for Xavier to grow up. If I have to be the catalyst of that..if I have to be the source that forces him to deal with Lennox, then I will. But I will not fight.”
“I will not fight for a child who doesn't have the nerve to do what really needs to be done.”
A grin broke out across his face, the menacing feel about it remaining.
”My brother..is no better than I am. A foul..self serving..abomination that fools everyone around him far too easily. If I have to be the one to open eyes..I will gladly do so. Soon, the world will see my brother for what he is..alone. Incapable of true, lifelong love. From one to the next, getting what he wants before moving on. Both professionally..and personally.”
“I am prepared for the fight that may or may not come about by this. Will I apologize for what I've done? No. Do I regret what I've done? No. Will I stop before making my brother become complete once again? No.”
“It's okay, Xavier. They are starting to see you for what you are...what we are. I will continue to do this until you are ready for Lennox. Don't fight your demons..embrace them...become them. I've been looking for a way to bring you back to life..and this is it.”
Gabriel brought his hand up, slapping it against the faceplate of that championship, his grin growing largely before the scene fading.
