I've said it before and I'll say it again: Ash Scion was the best Fuckin' Awesome Hardcore Champion so far. She stood at the precipice of the hardcore division, challenging anyone who would listen to try and push her to the jagged rocks below. Many came and accepted her challenge from far and wide, but before anyone realized what was going on, Ash Scion was toppled with an inverted double underhook facebuster onto a chair.
Scion was Starstruck.
"The Geekette Extraordinaire" Cali-Kate got to her feet with the championship in hand and everyone who accepted Ash Scion's brazen challenge suddenly painted a target squarely on the back of the new champion.
She didn't 'borrow' the championship, no. She earned it.
I was one of those challengers. I was as surprised as everyone else, but that doesn't erase the fact that we all came here to win a championship. The situation changed but the plan remained intact.
I respect you, Cali-Kate. All the bullshit aside where we both talk shit just to get eyes on the match, I can admit that. We have our differences, but I'm not stupid enough to ever discount your talent like everyone else. Whether it was luck or talent, it doesn't matter. The way I see it, you're the toughest competitor in this match right in front of the last champion, and if I wasn't in this match? You'd more than likely win again and overthrow Ash in becoming the best hardcore champion FAW's ever seen, but...
I'm standing in your way.
Capturing a championship is easy compared to keeping it. It's much better to have nothing left to lose than to be weighed down with all that pressure and responsibility. I have no doubt that you could do it in any other circumstance, but considering there's four people you have to keep an eye on and you don't even need to get pinned to lose your championship? The odds don't favor the champion here.
Let me try to put it in terms you might understand:
Overwatch.
You're taking the point in a game of Control and you're alone. Those five allies who had your back through the whole game until now? Dead. Waiting to respawn. It's up to you. It's a tie, and we're on the last round. You've been doing well until now. You've lead your team and now six enemy heroes approach. Aggro. The bar slowly chugs along and just when you start to fight the oncoming onslaught, you hear a voice...
You know what time it is...
It's high noon.
Nerf this!
McCree gets a shot on you, and D.Va's mech explodes right in your face!
It doesn't matter what you've done before. It doesn't matter what you've achieved. There's nowhere to go and there's no one to help you keep that championship.
Can you feel the pressure?
You know what time it is...
And you're not healing from this one.
